Brake faults

Featured Replies

52 plate 1.9 Tdi Fabia Estate with some electrical glitches. Intermittantly the ABS light is coming on and when you pull the handbrake on the light on the dash is dimming / flickers.

Fault on a scan read:

01598 - Drive battery voltage / sporadic signal too low

01316 - ABS control module / sporadic - no communication

Any ideas what this may be? I was wondering if it was the load sensing wire from the battery, which seems to be a common ECU fault inducer when it breaks!

I'd get the battery checked.

Also does the battery light come on with the ignition?

All other lights on the dash work ok. The battery is not very old and a genuine item from TPS.

Just to clarify it is only the handbrake light that dims / flickers!

If the battery light comes on then the DFM wire is fine.

Id be checking the lives and earths to the ABS control unit then, check none are loose or corroded.

Also have a look at the wiring loom where it bends on the n/s chassis leg under the pump, check its not rotting out.
