pre cat down pipe and cat back exhaust

Featured Replies

hi

can any one help i am looking at trying to find a pre cat down pipe and cat back system as i dont now were to go for it are look

many thanks

Miltek all the way buddy, they fit like a glove with no issues, not cheap but possibly the best. Phil.

Pipewerx or Blueflame

Yea im thinking Blueflame aswell now instead of Miltek. The golf boys reckon the tide is shifting from Miltek and blueflame slightly better priced.

I have a full Miltek (including cat) on my leon mk1 cupra and its been faultless so cant see there being much in it but from what i have read the mk5 and 6 golf responds better to the blueflame.

Heard of Pipewerx (never anything bad about them) but never known anyone who has one fitted.

Im going to be in the market for a full system as soon as i can afford it :( and so will be doing some investigating :)

minor correction for you mate. The exhaust is split into to sections.

1st is the downpipe and sports cat. 2nd is the cat back system.

I think miltek are expensive personally and considering the amount of snapped welds that have been posted up in the past even if they have apparently fixed it, im not seeing where the extra cost has gone if its not in the build quality.

Id sway more towards the likes of blueflame and pipewerx who offers the same exhaust systems, of equivalent if not better build quality for less money.

Also ask yourself why you want a full system. If its for power then a downpipe is all you need. the cat back system does not produce any noticable power gains at all. Many people can confirm that as well from before and after RR graphs. Whereas the dowpipe along with mapping can yield massive gains. If your after just noise then go for the cat back.

I have had both and fitted them at different times. initially i had a 3" pipewerx DP and cast fitted. Not only did this yield excellent gains, it made the car sound alot meatier. fikes72 has it now. I then fitted the piper cat back, which yielded no gains but n awesome exhaust note. The missus wasnt a fan though and if anything i dont think i would get a full exhaust system again, as i found it was so obvious when i was speeding, that i ended up driving slower than normal so it wasnt so embarrassing

How much do blueflame or pipeworks charge for a down pipe?

.. And is the tsi part the same as tfsi?

the pipewerx is available for around the £400 to 450 region on ebay. not sure at all about the TSI exhaust flange plates being the same!! would have thought so though, that way the exhaust parts would have been a follow through from the pre facelift cars to save money

Think you will find the downpipe flange to turbo is different between the tfsi and tsi, seem to think its been covered on here sometime ago, I think it is poss to fit but could be wrong (best thing to do is a search on here)

£465 + £14 postage, I did negotiate free p & p but haven't been able to afford it yet! The alternative is £215 for the Bluflame decat dp which is still an opition for me, with delivery and a reducing flange around £260.

Hi mate ,as Janner_Sy said i now have his Pipewerx downpipe , i cant comment on any other make but as for the Pipewerx it is a quality bit of kit ,fits perfect as it already has the reducer fitted . The power gains are noticeable as i originally used it with the standard map, but now stage 2 sharkperformance .The sound with it on is a nice tone not to intrusive inside the car but you can still notice it when booting it and motorway driving sounds just like standard which i like about it.
