can any one please tell me if the superb mk2 elegance headlights can be switched over to use on the Continent or do i need new units?.

There's an option in the Maxidot display to switch the lights to a continental setting for driving abroad. Well, so i've read on here anyway! ...I only ordered my Superb last week so can't tell you first-hand!

The option is called the Travel setting. Default is "Off," so to disable dipping to the left, select "On." I usually do mine just before driving off the ferry.

Yep i do mine when on the Chunnel , you need to be stopped and the headlights keep that setting until you change it back , couldnt be easier

The Adaptive lights have a "tourist mode". The Elegance model has AFS lights as standard, option on other trim levels

A warning light comes on for a couple of seconds at startup when Tourist Mode is set for rest of Europe use.

Tried swapping mine to Tourist Mode last night in the dark... I could see the beam moving, worked a treat

Heading to France in a few weeks. Sure I'd read somewhere on this forum that simply setting the Tourist Light function to On was not sufficient for converting Xenon lights for RHD use (but I can't find the post now!). Is Tourist Light all that's needed, or does one also need to use old-fashioned beam deflectors?

AFAIK the tourist mode does the same as beam deflectors it "flattens" the dipped headlights so that they do not shine to the left of the road. Providing you are not staying in France for a lengthy period the Tourist mode should be sufficient

If you park up facing a wall and have the lights on when you switch to tourist mode you can see the beam move. Quite a cool feature
