Skoda... Rated Best Manufacturer 2010

Featured Replies

People...did anyone note that Which Magazine has listed SKODA the top manufacture in their league table? This has come about due to their usual extensive car surveys and invasive testing of dealers and manufacturers services. Pretty good eh!

For those of us with a,sadly, long memory ..it would have been unthinkable that such an award could ever have been made to Skoda...Just goes to show what can be done if you try...Well done to them

Surely to become the 'top manufacturer' requires them to actually manufacturer some cars - rather than just take the orders and think about maybe making the car in 5+ months time?? :swear:

The other flaw in this award is that while the dealers are top draw, its a shame SUK themselves cant be as consistent, given my experience & feedback on here.

Yeah...I know, some people do experience some probs. Same with any manufacturer, but hopefully less so with Skoda. But...they must be doing something right as every major poll and survey out there has them at or near the top! Can't be bad.

My experiance has been OK, nothing special though. The buying experience was good, but no better than when I bought the wifes Peugeot. The handover was the same as anywhere else. Follow up from SUK has been non existant, unlike Peugeot who have asked over and over how we are getting on etc, also smart were excellent in that respect. Aftersales has been avearge, a warranty repair wasnt done properly and the first service experience wasnt great either. However, the one really great thing has been the actual car, easily the best new car Ive bought but I fail to see how Skoda win all these accolades as I have found them average overall.

Yes, Id buy another, but Id like to find one of these dealers that I keep hearing about as the 3 I have used arent anywhere near great!

I Agree.

In the late 1970’s a schoolfriend of mine had a part-time job as a petrol pump attendant (remember them?) at a Skoda garage. The Skodas in the showroom were the old rear engined ones. Cant remember the model name but the one before the side-hinged-bonnet model. Anyway the showroom was guarded at night by a couple of alsations who had the run of the place. In the morning my mate sometimes found that the dogs had not only slept in the showroom cars but had also had a nice big dump in them as well. My mate reckoned it improved the cars, as they were so rubbish.

In the late 1980’s another colleague was at a football match in Leeds. An announcement came over the tannoy “would the owner of car reg blah blah please move it urgently – its a Skodaâ€. The whole stadium erupted in laughter and no-one dared come forward as the owner to be ridiculed.

Yes I would say Skoda have come a long way!

Hi Seboni, no I meant the one before the Estelle, I think it was the S series? Saw a coupe like they used to have in the showroom on the following link. Its a S110R.
