Does anyone have any info about block heaters for petrol TSI engines? Is there an OEM one available for the 2.0 TSI?

I don't fancy a remote start system, would prefer a block heater so the engine doesn't have to be running. Are there any electric options rather than tapping the fuel line? I don't mind the latter with OEM parts but i'm thinking electric could be less hassle.

What do you mean by "cold weather"?

I didn't have absolutely no problems starting mine (1.8 TSI) at -20 degrees Celsius.

There is no block heater as OEM for Skoda. I'm sure you can find block heaters for engines on internet.

You have a auxiliary heater OEM availablefrom Skoda only in diesel version, costs 1,350 euro. You have it on page 119 of Octavia Manual described, it even has a nice button on climatronic, and it warms the interior too.

Where I live we have a full 2-3 months winter will constant minus temperature up to -20 and except buses and trucks, no one uses block heaters. and petrol engines have no problem starting.

I can see the advantages...

Less engine wear (already has a head start in warming up to normal operating temp).

The experience of getting into a toasty warm car on a frosty morning. Nice.
