rip fabia

Featured Replies

hi as off friday night i no longer have my vrs due to some 19 year old lad going into the back of it when it was parked up.

thank god it didnt happen couple of seconds before as my pregnant partner just got into the car when it happened

could any one help with a valueation of it as the insurance is goinig to phone me up monday and give me a offer as it is written off

it is a 53 plate with around 71k on clock

any help would be good

According to the book price its worth 3.5k-4k thats for a private sale.

Insurance company (More Than) paid out 5k for my 05 black fabia vRS with 74k on the clock.

TBH I think I could have got a bit more as I only valued the car at £4.8k, if I started higher I reckon I could have haggled for an even better price.

You didn't say the year

Parkers notes:

2003/53

Average mileage 70,000

Original Price £11,990

Franchised Dealer £4,835

Independent Dealer £4,480

Private Good £3,850

Private Poor £2,700

Part Exchange £3,180

2004/53

Average mileage 60,000

Original Price £11,990

Franchised Dealer £5,025

Independent Dealer £4,660

Private Good £4,120

Private Poor £2,995

Part Exchange £3,530

NETWORK Q suggests for 71k:

2003/53

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition: £2760

Average condition: £2500

Below average condition: £2220

2004/53

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition: £2990

Average condition: £2710

Below average condition: £2410

Parkers is usually slightly lower than Network Q so I'm surprised at that result - try looking up similar prices on Autotrader and when they offer you a low figure quote specific adverts. However insurance sometimes pays out fair values.

Technically you should be looking to get back to the same position as you were before the crash and I'd suggest that means using one of the dealer prices as the baseline.

I've been looking for a fabia about that age and mileage and everything tends to be going for between £4-5k or sligtly over at more optomistic dealerships. Hard luck made, nightmare situation. Long shot but I might be needing a set of vrs front seats so if you buy it back to break for parts let me know.

Cheers.

Are you sure it's a write off?

I got rear ended last year at 50mph in my 04 plate with 63k... They fixed it! (needed a new bumper, bash bar, back box, and the boot floor / rear slam panel had to be pulled back into shape but not sure if they replaced the slam panel, theres certainly new paint on the boot floor panel)

If your back doors still open and close ok you might find the save it.. if they're stiff then it's prob a gonner)

soon as i said it had rear axle damage they said they dont repair it so its write off which i found strange
