Seat Leon Cupra

Featured Replies

So I was driving the medical car at Knockhill today for one of the local car club meets.. Seat Leon Cupra, 59plate. Took me ages to find the knob for adjusting the wing mirrors! (next to handbrake if anyone's interested). Being a vRS CR driver, really enjoyed driving the petrol. Very flexible and progressive power delivery, though not sure I could live with the 15mpg the maxi dot was displaying! Handled great on the track but not sure if the ride may be a little too firm for all the pot-holed roads we all know and hate.

Really disappointed with the quality of the interior plastics. Akin to my old fabia vRS from more than 5 years ago. Also great swathes of plastic near the radio. The Octavia interior really has it licked in comparison. Sports seats were comfy and supportive. The boot despite obviously being smaller than the Octavia still swallowed the medical kit with ease.

If they could smarten up the plastics, It would make a massive difference to the appeal.

Overall, pretty impressed.

p.s. The circuit have just replaced all their red cupra track cars with white ones. I'd be cautious about buying a used red cupra. The mileage might be low, but by god they've had a hard life!

  • 2 weeks later...

Ive had a Leon FR tdi for a week and i hate it!

As youve said the interior plastics are awful... but what i found worse was the ride and handling!.. the suspension is ROCK hard and i found it unpleasant on motorways and broken a-roads... even my MPS which had twice the power was not this stiff..

Also the handling was a bit suspect, it could have possibly been the mismatched front/rear tyres and hard suspension, but this car was quite frisky with lift-off oversteer.. the ESP was triggered a couple of times in the wet as the rear tried to overtake me.. once even with my dad in the car so i wasnt driving it aggresively!.

Also theres the usual fact its a diesel and runs out of revs every 2 seconds emoticon-0136-giggle.gif

I think ive been spoilt with having a MX5.. but i was very dissapointed in this car.
