I have just brought a 51 plate vrs, the manual said the fuel tank is 55 litres but when the cars computer said 0 miles on the range I can only get 45 litres in the tank. Does anyone know for sure, I must have 10 litres left.

it is a 55l tank mate and around 7l res. most Ive ever put in was just over 61 ltr

dont forget that the trip comp said 0 but that all depends on the driving. iirc the petrol light flashes when its really low? or is that the mk4 Astra? I know one of my 2 cars did it. cant see why it only took that much on 0 tho, when my light comes on I am getting ar4ound the 50l mark in mine

dont let it goto 0 miles, did that on mine and burnt the fuel pump...

I fill up when my fuel light somes on with '30 miles' showing, normally get around 45-48 litres in.

On my TDI, I get the fuel light come on with about 60 miles (1 gallon) of fuel left. In the past I have got 60+ litres into the old girl (and not poured any onto the forecourt!)

The fuel light is supposed to come on when you have 7 lltres remaining.

Yup, exactly the same here. I've never pushed it for more than 15 miles or so after the light, but from the economy I get I'd expect another 60 miles or so from then.

Hmm, I'm thinking I may have damaged my fuel pump too. What symptoms did you have?

I've driven London to Colchester Zoo with the light on. A combination of stubbornness, bad signing and general shortage of fuel stations on the A12.

That is about 60 miles isn't it? I daren't push it that far as the gauges in the Octy seem to be approximate at best
