2007 Octy VRS PD Tdi - remap or not remap?

Featured Replies

Got myself a 2007 diesel VRS estate and it's truely awesome. Always keen of more power, but at the same time, a bit concerned about messing with factory electrics. Various options, Bluefin, live remap, chip..............

Whats best, and will I genuinely see better performance and economy. I don't want buckets of smoke, and can't afford regular clutches. Adfvice required from seasoned members.

Thanks for all.

In the early stages of pursuading Mrs FG to support the addition of some 18" rims. Billions of replica Audi options with tyre packages, but any advice on the minimum standard of tyre to cope with brisk but sensible driving?????

Who am I trying to kid, sensible with the family on board, but on my own, usually late for work therefore get your Mondeo ST out of my way.

Hello mate, welcome to Briskoda. Loads of tuning companies out there to choose from. I've just had mine done by JabbaSport which is a site sponsor and I'm truly happy with the work carried out. Loads more torque now and the MPG has increased. I do get a reasonable amount of smoke under hard acceleration but I had my DPF removed at the same time.

As for wheels, my personal opinion is to stick with OEM spec wheels (must be quite a few second hand sets available) as alot of replica wheels I've seen do not match the quality as OEM. The usual size for 18" is 225/40/18. I'd stick to decent rubber as well as the TDi punts out a fair amount of torque and you will be wheel spinning all over the place with cheap shoes on. :smirk:

Cheers Fitz.

I've been surprised how few OE 18" Zeniths I can find on ebay and the like, but as far as rubber goes, you have confirmed what I suspected. I noticed a used but reset Bluefin up for grabs on Briskoda, sounds sensible money at £200, any views?

Thanks buddy, but I'm afraid the link you have attached doesn't want to open. Can you send it again please? There is a place in Chesterfield called JBS, but I have had mixed reports.

Welcome :)

Talk to Ben at Shark Performance as mentioned, he comes recommended. You'll find he's a sponsor on here, so you can ask direct questions in there if you like.

Tyres and wheels. Plenty of discussion of both to be found within the Octavia 2 section; go take a look

Cheers,

Steve
