poor vrs brakes

Featured Replies

help. i have owned a fab vrs since new. ive never been happy with the brakes, my wifes micra brakes are better. i once was a mechanic 100 years ago so i know my way around a car, but i just dont feel confident with the brakes. ive replaced the front brakes with red stff pads changed fluid to dot 5, adjusted up the rears but still rubbish. skoda under warrenty said it was a characteristic of the vehicle. they obviously know the brakes are poor. how can i get them better, new master cylinder?? bigger discs + calapers?? dont want to go overboard. did have the car remapped, this hasnt helped. cheers. sean.

If you're handy, the best bet is the 312mm front brakes off the Mk1 Audi TT.

Welcome to Briskoda.

What apogee said. Makes a massive difference. Plus opens up a world of performance pads it you want but for everyday road driving oem are fine.

hi & welcome

I mainly drive SWIMBOs Furbie & i agree the brakes are just about adequate in normal conditions but no good if you're trying to 'make progress'; have been almost caught out a couple of times.

When i drive the Octy the difference in braking performance is amazing
