pd160?

Featured Replies

had my splitter dropped off by tps this morning and they recommended a pd160 air intake? They said this comes off the seat leon? What exactly does this bit do, and how much is it? they said it can give the vehicle an extra 10bhp?? :S

I dont think it can add 10bhp...it's not cheap as its a popular mod, but its basically a larger intake pipe from what I gather, so you get increased air flow. From my knowlege you get increased throttle response from an air filter...not bhp!

It's a slightly wider tube from the grille to the airbox. It'll gain you an impressive 0bhp, cost a fortune and comes from the Ibiza Cupra I believe. Just helps teh car breathe more easily. Might (possibly) help the car smoke less under load (subjective).

oh lol god knows what he was on bout then! :giggle:

and only really needed if your car is remapped

The intake pipe is from a Mk4 Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI (PD160). The splitter I think is from a Seat Leon Cupra.

I don't think it makes much difference if you car is standard (possibly a bit less smoke). But if you fit one as well as an after-market panel filter, then you take it to be remapped, the new map will utilise the extra air flow and give you more power than a map without one.
