Thrilled! Steering finally sorted!

Featured Replies

When I first bought my Yeti back in end of April, it has always had problem with the steering, it is always 1-2 degrees off to the left.

After 5 or so visits to the dealer I purchased the car from, they have found nothing, carried out tracking check and I was told it could be the camber of the road, well needless to say, I was a little sceptical and have them subsequently check the suspension etc, and was told all was well.

So for the last 4.5k miles I have to live with the steering off centre and sometimes swaying all over the road on the motorway. Since I had some creaks coming from the centre console, I took it to Pulman in Durham and they fixed eveything, and I was told it was the 4 wheels alignment that needed sorting out and now the car drives beautifully, less tyre roar and just more pleasant altogether, I was just surprise this was not picked up by the dealer in Bristol over the 5 visits, especially the problem persisted since it was new and should have been picked up on the PDI!

I am not sure whether this is a factory error or whether it was caused when the dealer in Bristol were roadtesting it and knock it out of place? But anyway I am very happy indeed and can now truly enjoy the Yeti.

On a different note, Pulman gave me a Golf to drive and I was able to give a simple review of that! Apart from the engine (1.4 - might be too small for the car) and gearbox (5 speed - quite notchy), the Golf compares quite well. It costs more and has less equipment, I drove the S and I think it would compare well to the Yeti E. There are obviously somethings I like about the Golf, it has a much better ride and the door have soft touch material. However, the Yeti has a nicer, softer steering wheel and the handling is more fun on the Yeti, also the dash material is better in my opinion.

Hi

Would you PM with which Bristol dealer that was please?

I live outside Bristol and usually have my servicing done in Bath and visit mother-in-law while its done (2 birds 1 stone etc.) but once James has supplied my Yeti it might get serviced in Bristol, and I'd like to know which of the two dealers seems unable to find a fault that doesn't come up on the computer.
