Wierd Columbus behaviour

Every now and again (maybe once a week or so) my Columbus acts strange.

I put in a new navigation destination but nothing appears in the Maxidot display.

Then after maybe 20 minutes the Columbus screen dims briefly, then returns to full brightness, and navigation appears in the Maxidot.

Anyone else seen this? Software update needed?
