Mirror Shell

Featured Replies

Had an encounter with another vehicle whose mirror was on my side of the road - long and short of it is, drivers door mirror shell got cracked.

All the electrics work and the glass didn't break - but I need a new outer shell.

Any idea how much Skoda is likely to charge to supply and fit?

Also, out of interest, how does one take the shell off the mirror unit??? I've undone the obvious torx screws but it won't budge.

Thanks,

James

I had similar, but lost the glass as well, it is most likely fitted the same as the Fabia.

In order to fit the casing, the door panel has to come off as the mirror electrics connect to the window electrics. and the whole unit removed from the door.

It seems to be the season for wing mirror hunting.

Do the torx screws at the bottom of the mirror unit actually hold the shell on or hold something else in the mirror unit together? I only ask because I don't see how taking the mirror unit off the door aids taking the shell off.

Have seen some nice Audi S3 aluminium shells on eBay which I gather might be possible to fit on the Octy. More expensive but if it is possible to get the shells off without taking the door apart I'd be tempted :D

Try a PM to Ross, " The Wise man of all things mechanical " I'm sure he could advise.

I think there are screws behind the glass securing the cover to the motor unit. You will nee to remove the glass then undo the bolts. I'm sure the cover then lifts off with a little persuasion.
