Yes leave it for a min or two after a serious booting :) just idle it but only if it's had a good doing lol

If you have been really hammering it, then it`s a good idea to let it cool for 30 seconds or so. But TBH, i`m normally stopping in a built up area, be it work, house, shops etc. So the car has been at a lower engine speed for a few mins before anyway, not much need in real terms.

just because water temp has reached 90 it doesnt mean the oil temp is warm enough yet i always leave it 15mins before i really give it some

just trying to be as cautious as possible

I agree on the warm up even on my Clio 182 I gave it 20 mins before I put it above 4k when it went to 7.5k rpm lol but cool down I'd say 1 min unless like said ur stopped at lights or traffic on the way home

Thank you!

Someone else with abit of sense. As above, the water temps might reach near on 90, but your oil wont have.

Well it's common sense your oils not hot enough - was funny on Cliosport the amount of people saying their limiters dropped to 6k rpm all because their trying to boot it as soon as they start the car - fools

Unless you're booting your car seconds before you want to turn it off i wouldn't worry too much about letting it cooldown. As long as you've driven around for 2-3mins without boost it will have cooled down plenty. My old GT4 had a turbo timer on it, daaaamn that was annoying - the amount of people that would stop you as you walked off saying "excuse me, you've left your car running" ;)

My Stage 2 pd150 hybrid wouldn't give out full power until the oil was at proper temp!

it was laggy and gutless even when water temp reached 90!

i needed to leave it another 5 or so minutes even after water was upto temp

I see how long it takes to get to 90, then wait that long again before I rag it

Bloody hell, on a cold winter's morning that would be a long time  !

For the last 100,000 miles (40,000 with tuning of some sort), I've been keeping it below 3k and avoiding WOT until water's up to temp, and letting it run on for as long it takes me to fit the steering lock, turn off the handsfree, and stick my phone in my pocket. So far, so good...
