DECT phone for hearing aid wearer?

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a DECT phone for a hearing aid wearer?

Dad is struggling to hear callers with his BT cordless phone.

Thanks

I've had this problem with parentals too :)

My only workable solution? A corded BT handset. Been through umpteen DECT handsets from various manufacturers with little success. So if you turn up a workable solution, post it here

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Have pondered the corded phone solution, but dad gets restless and needs to pace their home when using the phone

I think it's selective myself, as when Mum's out at bingo he seems to hear just fine without me needing to shout :giggle:

The Register did a Hardware review of phones for older people, might be worth having a hunt through their website.

All the ones I've tried have been listed as 'compatible'. I guess that's one thing, it can be quite another to actually be an acceptable standard of quality.

The BT DECT sets they have at the moment, my Mum just puts it on speaker phone - that seems to work quite well from a volume point of view; but clearly not a properly designed solution!

Bit late - http://www.lusonic.com/Phones4-Elderly.asp

i GOOGLES "cordless phones with inductive loop"() -as years ago it was common to get corded versions -I assume that technology has moved on . Again only a corded one ,old,so possibly a lot cheaper - Mybelle Prestige ,has a built in amp . I get problems with wax build up ,and even when I have hearing problems I can still ise this one .I've also got a Panasonic corded - I "won" - but in its day expensive ,but has built in amp, with variable volume .

Edit -missed the hearing aid bit on first post .
