Felicia

Featured Replies

First topic - user manual - my daughter has an R plate Felicia, which by a bit of car jugling will soon be mine . Looking in the dash , I have found a full user pack ,including radio . Mods - advice sought on how ( if any member wants copies of pages ) to send - my mind says PM . advice PLEASE ,SO AS NOT TO BREACH COPY WRITE .

Second topic - wipers -haven't looked in manual /Haynes, but wiper control goes --

Intermittent

Fast

Normal

Anyone confirm that this is right- to my mind this says wiper motor change and wiring mishap .

She also reports.

On 1.3GLi -empty tank - stick in £10 ,do 35 miles - empty lamp comes on and fuel gauge shows low .

Seems similar to Furby -I stick in £10 of diesel, shows 105miles - then goes to empty lamp at 75 .

sorry i don't understand what it is you are asking here :wonder:

wipers 1 click intermittant, 2 clicks normal, 3 fast.

just reminded me as well, i recently discovered you can change the speed of intermittant by clicking it on/off, doesnt always seem to work though so not sure if mine are dodgy.

anyone have more info on this?

i dont think ive ever got so few miles from a tenner though and I do have a heavy foot ;)

I found it was easier to move from intermittant to normal and back to set the interval. Going back to off seemed to be hit and miss.

sad thing is i can't remember the order if i'm 100% honest, i drive so many different cars it's unreal :giggle: but iirc the middle position is off, down is slow, first up is intermittent, 2nd up is fast..

i dont think ive ever got so few miles from a tenner though and I do have a heavy foot ;)

next time you are down south pop by and i'll let you stick a tenner in mine and drive it round with a heavy foot till it dies!!! although stangely enough it is actually fairly economical for a hotted up felicia, still does 35(ish)mpg

bottom is off, 1up intermittant, 2up normal, 3up fast.

and ill keep that in mind Tom ;)

Thanks - that's what I thought , but she said that it was fast on first click, then i asked her to try second ,and it slowed down .So looks like the motor has( possibly )been changed -and wiring changed over .

And as said - she's found a full set of manuals in car ( including radio) -in almost pristine condition (so that's doubled the value ) -so any one needing info from manual -i'll just scan and PM .

i think one of the relays was for intermittant wipers, wonder if it could be dodgy?

I have just bought a T plate felicia and it doesn't have an intermittant setting on the wipers :'(

Be honest - it's possible that she's missed the intermittent position . ( She didn't think to try pos 2 ,till I mentioned it ) . Hate to say it ,but I'm wondering if little red head biker is a mental blonde - (will try out switch when I get my hands on car . ) -but then she came out all non female and said "I haven't looked in the book - well fellas - which one of us looks in manuals, rather than trying to impress SWMBO.

sounds to me like there is something wrong as you said when she tried 2nd it slowed down... this assuming she was pushing the stalk UP from intermittant to the 2nd click (normal) and not down from 3rd (fast)? im just confusing myself now..

EDIT: unless they work differently in pre/post facelift models?

Pass - wait for my checks - I'll let you know .

Yup, it should be the standard off->single wipe(no click)->intermittent->normal->fast progression. The programmable intermittent works the same as on any other car I've driven with it - nudge the lever for a single wipe, wait however long you want, then switch all the way to intermittent to set the delay. The rear wash/wipe is slightly more nonsensical with its 'secret' intermittent function.

I have just bought a T plate felicia and it doesn't have an intermittant setting on the wipers :'(

I'd check the relay (and possibly the switch), assuming you mean it has more than one 'off' position ;)

i figured thats how it should work, wether or not it works at the time i set it is touch and go though..

and whats this about the rear wipe? afaik there was only single wipe or wash.. more info pleaseeee? :D

I'm not sure if all cars had this or only the higher-spec ones, but pushing the lever to the rear wash position very briefly (<1 second) toggles rear intermittent on/off. Talk about unintuitive! I managed to do this inadvertently a couple of times (before I had a handbook) and it rather startled me, then left me wondering a:how I'd done that and b:how to stop it again (it does cancel when the ignition is switched off, though) :giggle:

seems i have no kind of auto wiping on the back, 1 push wipes once, 2 pushes washes (for as long as you hold it) and wipes once after.

if it needs further drying, or if its raining, or when i park in ponds I have to do it manually by keep pushing (or not bother)

VWD sorry if i am hijacking your thread :p

Re fueling, the Felly has a tank size of about 9.5 gallons and a good one should give you 40-50 mpg; I dont know how big the "reserve" is, my son drives it and I have never seen the light come on.

It could be the sensor is reading low, do you know how far up the gauge went when it was fuelled??

The only sure way will be to check the mpg on brim to brim tankfulls.

Bear in mind that not all cars have the same size "reserve"; on my old Toyota mpv it was 3.5 gallons!!!

tank is 46 litres, 6 of which are the "reserve" according to haynes

J242 - as far as I 'm concerned - all info is not a hijack - I post to get/ pass on info - I respect others that do like wise , and DON'T SLAG THEM OFF.

To me ,all info ,given on a post is given as a help .The days ,on this forum ,of refusing help/passing on info , are long gone .

Perhaps we need as new motif "IANAM" (= I am not a mechanic), but then a lot of firms ( KF ,SPRINGS TO MIND),could/should be using this .
