ASR/Check Engine Light

Featured Replies

Hey...

I own a 2003 Octavia and seem to get a problem that the dealers over here cant answer me the reason.

Everytime i cruise around town for 1-2 hours at the speed of 20-50 km/h the ASR and Check Engine Light pop up and the engine starts to choke.

I can get rid of it by speeding for a few min, stop, kill the engine and start it again ... the lights are gone and the engine acts normally.

Thx and hope for an answer to what my problem is.

if you're running a diesel with a DPF fitted then its getting clogged & needs to regenerate. DPF equipped cars do not like to crawl around at low speeds for any length time & if this is your normal driving style, like a taxi, get the DPF removed.

The best way to clean out the DPF would be to do a hi rev run, over 2000 rpm for 20 / 30 minutes once or twice a day and / or stop doing short slow trips. Your dealer should advise if the necessary ECU updates have been applied to your CPU; there was one a couple of years back that affected the DPF sensor & made it less sensitive i think

If you are running a petrol engine, i'm sure another Briskodian will be along shortly who can help

Ya, its a petrol engine car ... and lets hope so, thx anyway

Wont be a DPF car from 2003 anyhow.

Is it a 2.0 petrol?

Sounds like a mixture adaptation issue, is it logging any fault codes.
