Focus ST owner thinking about a New Fabia vRS.

Featured Replies

Hi, its been a long time since i have been on here since i sold my 53 reg Fabia vRS which i had for 3 years from new ( worst decision i made to sell it but hey hindsight is a wonderful thing ) anyway i now have a 2008 Focus ST2. Yesterday i test drove a new vRS and WOW i was very impressed great handling and VERY rapid indeed, well screwed together. With the options i would want car comes to £16,965 and dealer offered me £10,000 for my car i must admit i am very tempted indeed it felt faster than my ST. Whats your opinions would i be dissapointed?

Thanks, Tony.

Do it!!!

Don't think, just do it and you will never regret it.

Hi Tony, a name I remember, welcome back.

The Focus ST driver that tried it on yesterday dissappeared in my rear view mirror and was no doubt very dissappointed.

Hi Tony. I've gone from a civic type r to a VRS and I don't regret it one bit.

Don't even think about it. Just DO IT!

If you want a car where you can continuously wave goodbye to countless sports cars in your mirrors, the vRS is for you :giggle::rofl:

Thats rubbish :giggle: I had one on loan for the day, its quick around town and on the motorway but its not that fast to leave the ST, I should know I owned one for 4 years.

Don't get me wrong the Fabia is great car, but don't think you in a supercar just because you have a turbo and a Supercharger.

Hi RS, at the risk of going off topic, 4 years in an ST is good enough to have an expert opinion! Sadly one day in a VRS is not. I too have owned an ST amongst other quick and interesting cars, albeit mine for only 3 years. And yes, on paper, and in mine, no doubt yours and other experienced hands, the ST is the quicker car. Clearly the driver of the 59 plate ST that disappeared behind me wasn’t that good, but he was trying. And thats the crux, the VRS performance is more accessible.

Of course neither ST or VRS are supercars. But my mate has a 2007 BMW 535 M sport, which at £40k when new is almost, but not quite, into supercar territory, even with 2 turbos. In a straight line the VRS trails behind him a bit, as you would expect. Above a ton he turns into a speck in the far distance, as you would also expect. But in the real world he cant shake me off and he can drive.

Hi, thanks for your replys i also posted this on the Focus ST forum and and obviously as expected most of them said DONT DO IT ! ! and most of you said DO IT ! !

I am not thinking about swapping just to try and embarass ST drivers or other " Fast " cars for that matter, i just like quick cars and in my humble opinion the vRS did feel as quick as my ST.

I am thinking cheaper to run ( fuel, tax, insure. ) obviously newer with 3 years warrenty and since my 1st diesel vRS which i loved i just like Skoda`s it also appeals to me that people in there ignorance STILL look down at Skoda`s ( more fool them ) any way i have another test drive in one on Sat morning in Preston for about an hour i will see then if the 1st brilliant test drive i had was just a one off !

If the dealer will go to about £10,800 for my car there could be a deal on, my choice of vRS would be White, black roof, white alloys, with options Cruise control, Climate control and front arm rest.

Thanks again, Tony.

Just remap your ST

The focus looks better and will go better.

Whatever Ford (or Vauxhall) you buy, it's a chav purchase. Perfectly acceptable cars. But cheap scent. Skoda is still under the radar.

Just remap your ST

I think it already had been

I had mine to 300bhp (Stage 3) it was a great car, however a remap on the VRS would make it a rather attractive offer.

What for extra 6k?????
