Massive ICE revamp!

Featured Replies

Plans atm as soon as i get paid (yay!)

Double DIN radio with 7" screen DVD player blah, blah, so on, so on :p

2x Monitors in the Headrests, anybody done this before? do 7" or 5.8" fit best?

Some sort of groovy retro console (PS2 or something like that) with an inverter.

Now i want to:

Hook the Double DIN headunit up with the headrest monitors so the DVD can be played in the back seats.

Hook the PS2 to the Double DIN headunit. (should be easy enough) but then hook the PS2 to the back headrests also (Can you split a video line? so it goes to both the headrests and the headunit?)

I could aways seperate them and have the built in DVD for the headunit and then get one of those Car dvd players for the headrests (maybe would simplify things) and somehow split the console video output 3 ways lol :p

Stupid idea or is there a MAJOR floor in my plan im missing? :S, also looking for other funky electrical style revamp ideas.

To me its a stupid idea, I'd rather spend the money on making the car perform better rather than slowing it down adding subs DVD monitors etc but thats just me

Very do-able.

Get yourself a head unit which allows you to see another source at the back (usually called dual zone). I would recommend having the headrests professionally fitted unless you are feeling brave :)

The PS2 would just be connected to a source usually AUX or Video IN and that should be it!

I AM THE BRAVEST! lol...................well ish, im just gonna get some spares and repairs headrests so if i royally mess it up i dont ruin my car :)

Yes but the headunit choice is seriously doing my nut in, so many weird ebay ones... eonon? Xtrons? who are you people! look a bit chinese knock off naff to me but anybody had any experience?

Suggestions open to the headunit side of things, ideas? DVD player obv, Sat NAV and DVB-T arent necessary.

I know that the lastest pioneer desks are very easy to use and would do a good job of what you are asking.

If you dont need sat nav - Pioneer AVH3200BT could be had for below £350. Has all the inputs you need plus has bluetooth to pair with your phone, plays music and movies off of SD card. You can always add Sat Nav module afterwards...to be honest most of the established brands will do the job (Kenwood, Alpine etc), it is all about preference.

Maybe a trip to the local audio shop where you can play around with the different stereos and the interfaces may be useful to you.

Yes i think halfords might finally get annoyed with me going in .... having a fiddle.... writing down the model number then leaving (EBAY!) haha half price!

Has anyone had any experience with the DVB-T in the uk... does it work out completely naff and never get a signal or rubbish quality? maybe worth looking into? only units with DVB in my price range are the china knock offs... sceptical again. haha

Yup

3200BT is a good stereo. :)

Not sure about the actual resolution, but it is very good I can say that, compared to an OEM Audi TT unit i saw the other day was much sharper, you wont be disappointed. TBH if you are looking to play games on the front screen you may be better off going for the 7" 4200, otherwise run the games off the rear screens.

yeh the 4200 looks good aswell, but hasnt got bluetooth as standard (not the end of the world) and only 1 video output i think, can you split a video output? and send it to 2 screens :S

That shouldnt be a problem if you looking to view one source :)
