SkoSpares.com - Never again!

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just bought a Octavia bumper from SkoSpares.com, spoke to a guy called Mark on the phone, told me the bumper was in good condition other than some scratches at the bottom. Just received the bumper and took it to be painted only to discover it is missing the side mount that screws into the wheel guard. Contacted SkoSpares to be told

1) They knew the bumper had it missing and hence the price (only thing is the message was never passed on to me!)

2) They won't refund the carriage just the part

3) I need to arrange the courier - hence wasting even more of my time.

There general blaze attitude really wound me up and I wont be buying anything from them in future.

That's no good... :(

If the item is faulty or not as described then AFAIK they must refund the delivery and shipping costs. Its part of the long distance selling regulations.

Because it was 2 items and one was ok....they are saying they won't refund the delivery - even though the bumper was the bigger item by far. As far as I am concerned the bumper was not described correctly if it was I never would have bought it, hence they should cough up.

We've been dealing with them for years for parts ranging from engines to aerials. They have given a near perfect service, on the occasion that we have needed engines or wiring looms they have been carefully removed and not hacked about. Where the service or part has not been 100%, we've had absolutely no problem in getting it resolved.

With regard to the distance selling regulations, an extract:

When do the DSRs apply?

2.8 The DSRs apply to your business if you sell goods or services without

face-to-face contact with your consumer using an organised distance

sale or service provision scheme for instance via:

n the internet

n text messaging

n phone calls

n faxing

n interactive TV, or

n mail order – via catalogues, mail order advertising in newspapers or

magazines.

For a fuller explanation of what we mean by organised distance sale

or service provision scheme please see paragraph 1.6 (below)

Organised distance sales or service provision scheme is not

defined in the DSRs. Each case must be considered on its merits.

We take the view that where, for example, standard letters, emails or

faxes are sent to potential customers who then order by returning

them by post, email or fax then it is likely that such an arrangement

falls within the definition.

The way that I read it is, that if they happened to phone you up to sell you the bumper, then they aren't going to apply.

I've dealt with them on two occasions for parts for our 2 Fabias. Never had any problems with them at all. I recommend them to people who want bits and don't mind if they are not new. The parts are normally far cheaper than new from a dealer or motor factors.

I agree the parts are cheap - what I do not agree with is their don't carish attitude and lack or respect for something that was no fault of my own, it was their negligence (they knew about the defect, confirmed it the day of my call) which caused me to buy a part that was not fit for purpose (if it was properly described I would not have bought the part in the first place). I have had to not only pay for the postage to me but also back to them to obtain my refund.

Guy had the cheek to justify it by saying he threw in free parts (grilles) - how does this matter if the product being purchased is not fit for purpose!

Bottom line, I won't be using them again.

  • 4 years later...

Ha... i ordered a seat belt for one of my taxis, from SKOSPARES, needed urgently for a taxi test.

I searched 1st chuice parts..got a hit from SKOSPARES and phoned them as i needed special delivery.

Gave them full details for delivery.....and paid a larger amount for the privelege ..

Guaranteed B4 1pm following day.....

Problem was they sent to the card holders address not the garage as instructed, which is over 30 miles away, we were sat waiting at our garage for the part.

Grrr!

I called them and asked if he would make an allowance for the delivery, as he had made a mistake, NO was the firm quick answer.

Take from this what you will.
