i was pleasantly surprised today when i checked MPG after a 500 miles round trip today

50.88mpg calculated off tank

:smirk:

and i wasn't hanging about

nice, my best is 47.6, cars on just done 2k.

Diesel I assume..

Showoff ;)

I just filled my new TDi CR Scout up for the first time. 700kms of mostly urban trips of 10-15km, with one reasonable 150km run at open road speeds. I averaged bang on 38mpg on a brim to brim tank measurement. While I'm pretty happy with that, given I've come from a gas guzzling 3.0L Subaru Outback that would return mid to high teens mpg for similar motoring, I wonder how that compares with others? And how much improvement I can expect as the engine wears in?

Should definitely improve as it gets more miles. My PD105 gave ridiculous economy when I got rid of it at 70k. My PD170 vRS is definitely getting better too (41k now). I got 640 miles betweewn fill-ups without trying - just reduced town driving.

I hope so too Simon. My GT Legacy achived 32 mpg over it's whole 150000kms so i'm hoping the switch to diesel is at least 33%+ better than that i.e i'd expect to go 1000kms between fillings.

At least it's cheaper at the pumps straight up anyway forgetting about RUC. $72 vs $110 is a good feeling.
