i have a skoda felicia 1.3 and on long journey when im driving on a long sweeping left it make a metal rubbing sound but it doesn't always only occassionally. it goes if i dab the brakes. i think its something to do brakes have been checked and cleaned by garage, they are close to the end of their life (discs and pads) but they have a reasonable amount of wear could it be anything else?.

ahh yes, the sweeping left hand bend syndrome..

mine goes all tappy on the top end of the engine on a long left hander, but i'm 100% certain that's caused by oil surge... in your case it may be a dodgy wheel bearing but it's hard to diagnose faults like this remotely without driving the car
