How to remove headlamp washer motor

Featured Replies

Anyone ever done it ?

Looks like it may be possible through the fog lamp socket, if i can work out what tool i need to get in there !

Have you got the bumper off yet? Pretty sure that's step 1 - can see it being a tricky procedure otherwise.

was hoping to be able to do it without taking the bumper off !

there's certainly enough clearance to get a big hand in through the fog lamp socket in the bumper

I'm presuming that taking the front bumper off is a a big job? Done a search on here and not found any info

I don't think you'll be able to do it without, personally.

It needn't be that big a job. Will try and see if I can find a guide.

Hi,

Front bumper removal. Here is a guide I have downloaded in the past (can't remember where), Hope it helps:

"Very straight forward, the whole job can be done using just a Torx T20 & T30 & a flat head screw driver. Bumper removal can be done in around 20-30minutes.

1. Remove Headlights

2. Remove the undertray 8xT20 3xT30

3. Unscrew Torx screws along the top of the bumper T20x3 (I think?)

4. Remove push fit fixings by prising out the center pin with a flat head screw driver or something similar. There are a some on both the top and along the bottom edge of the bumper.

5. Remover Torx screws from wheel arch T20x4 (each side)

Bumper should be ready to remove but if you have light washers you'll need something to clamp the resevoir pipe or you will have washer fluid all over the floor! Be ready also to unclip fog lights (it does help to have two of you at this point)"

Thanks FriendlyFire - that's Grrrrreat !

Yep - good stuff. That all sounds sensible to me.

Just letting you all know that you can remove the headlight washer pump WITHOUT removing the front bumper. ;)

Took me no more than 10 minutes through the foglamp socket.

Foglamp pops out in about 1 minute, and from there its a couple of hex screws and a bit of a fiddly removal for the pump.

I'm pretty certain the new pump will go in the same way it came out - will update as soon as i have a new pump to put in there.

The job might well be even easier if you remove the headlamp too - i didn't need to bother for the pump removal though

Yep - got the new pump in same way the old one came out - through the foglamp socket.

Really no need to remove bumper.

Removing the headlamp helped - made it easier to see what my hands were doing !
