Serciving - dealer says variable

Featured Replies

Another question about my Scout.

The service indicator is currently saying 1400m to go. The dealer said it was on variable (although he didn't know much else about the car so not sure how much I trust this information)

How do I find out what sort of servicing it's set to and also what is due on the next service. I'll be doing the work myself (except cam belt) so could do with knowing what's due.

thanks for any help

Whats the current mileage, as thats key to knowing whats needed. Without VCDS you cannot tell what regime the car is on until the serice becomes due.

it's on 86100 miles

fuel filter every 40k

air filter every 60k (I think thats to long personally)

pollen filter every 40k

Oil filter every service

Oil every service

DSG oil every 40k (if applicable)

Haldex oil every 40k (if applicable)

Inspection checking the usual levels and tyres

thanks for the info.

So with variable does the car tell when the oil needs doing and you also need to do the jobs listed above on top of that (or done at the nearest oil change service?)

Not quite got my head around the principle of variable services.

Yes say like yours for arguement sake has done 82k you would do all the 40k items.
