self leveling xenon help......

Featured Replies

I've noticed for the past few weeks that my xenons no longer level out when I start the car. They both give a "judder" instead.

I finally got around to plugging in VagCom today to see if there are any fault codes.

There are no codes for the xenons, but did have one for the CAN gateway...... incorrectly coded module 01044.

I checked the long coding all all appears to be ok to me. Any pointers on how to find the cause ?

I then went into the xenon control module, selected measuting blocks to check if the sensors are working.

They appear to work ok, but I noticed a big difference in the actual v's learned values:

Front sensor actual: 56.1%

Front Sensor Learned: 32.5%

Rear sensor actual: 73.3%

Rear sensor Learned: 68.2%

I had some major work done at the dealer back in the summer, (engine out they told me....) so wondered if the front sensor has been knocked ?

Any advise would be greatrly appreciated.

Post a complete scan from the vehicle in question please, we need to actually see which units are installed, what the coding is etc.

Thanks,

I've determined where the incorrectly coded module is coming from.... my Dension ipod interface.... Disconnect it and its fine, connect it and it throw up the code.

I think its getting mixed up with whether its a CD changer..... Not concerned about that.....

As for the xenons, I think its an issue with G78 on the front axle. Not certain its faulty, can it be adjusted ?

I parked close up to wall last night and watched the lights as I started the car. They do level out, well try too, but I think they're hitting the bottom limit due to the

reading from the front axle sensor.

Please understand that we cannot guess just based on the extremely little information you provided. So to not waste either ours or your time, please post the Auto-Scan as requested.

Might be worth taking the back of the headlight off and seeing if the stepper motor is working properly?? they often get stuck or just die altogether.
