Any ideas what its worth? (325bhp Octavia) thinking of selling

Featured Replies

I'm steadily getting busier and busier at work and I'm having less time to run my modified Octavia VRS, as anyone who has had a car like this will tell you......they do take some owership commitment. Saying that, now that I've done fixing mine up, its been reasonably hassle free.

I'm thinking about getting a company lease car now that the business is eligible for credit. Wondering what mine is worth, I could break it but I really don't want to and don't have the time either. I could keep it as a track day slag but again....time is the problem :(

The Specs:

I bought it in June and have steadily been sorting it out as with 109K there were some things starting to go like bushes, driver seat base etc etc

Overall she's been well looked after and has full Skoda and VAG indie service history, most of the miles have been long distance (she covered 30K in 2007-2008). Last service was at 109K so ages to go until the next one, the car is now on 112K and has TAX/MOT to Feb 2011.

Original spec from before I bought it is huge and can be found here http://www.z3mcoupe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5322

And there are a load of pics from 2008 here http://awooga.nl/gallery/cars/octavia2/miscellaneous

Aside from the spec it was in back in 2008 (cost over 10K in mods) it has had a fair bit spent on recent work and changes include.....

Remap by RS tuning in Leeds - Jabba map was claimed at 340bhp but was not very drivable as it had a very poor idle and cold running issues. RS map is smooth as silk and very usable as a daily driver, RR figure is 325bhp and 311 ft/lbs

98K 2nd cambelt change

107K New IHI VF34 - Old one had covered 60K before the exhaust housing let go (common and about right for the mileage)

108K Massive WRC spoiler removed and replaced with standard

108K New wishbone bushes

108K KW V3s inspected and new front springs fitted

110K Jabba induction kit replaced with a VAG airbox for a 3" maf, panel filter and 3" cold air feed to bumper (DV noise was driving me mad)

110K New EBC Green pads with turbo disks, brake fluid also changed

110K Forge 007P to replace the knackered Bailey DV30

111K Set of 4 KU31 tyres

111K New rear top mounts

111K New driver seat base

112K New drop links

Also the MFD 1 is gone and it now has a HUDouble din head unit with Sat nav etc.

Now for the bad bits:

Quentin scraped the front wing and rear of the passenger side wing when he owned it. This was repaired and while the paint is super smooth, in certain light, you can see the colour difference. Its fractional but I noticed it about a week after I bought it.

Bonnet and bumper have a fair few stone chips

Rear bumper has a small scrape

Sills are dented under the car, not a biggy but when Quentin had it, a garage tried to jack it in the wrong place and dented the sills.

Rear brake pads will need doing soon

Radiator mounts are shot

Overall

Great car with loads of life left, doesn't use any oil (I haven't had to top up in the last 3K I've had it), pretty much everything that wears out at this mileage has been done. Radiator mounts are annoying though!

has it not had the rods done????

Not sure on actual value Ron, but best of luck with the sale, you've done a lot to get it back to it's 'former glory'.

A lot of people have no idea just how good a setup your car is!! Fingers crossed for you mate!!

pm'd need a family car :giggle:

Cheers Steve, I may end up keeping it yet ;)

I really don't want to sell the car but as much as it pains me, my Mrs is right....I just don't have time to keep dealing with the little bits and bobs that crop up on an 8 yr old car, let alone a highly modded one. Its never anything big, a bush here and sensor there but it saps my time.

I guess I bought it with my rose tinted glasses on, remembering my good old days of V-dub tuning, going to meets, track days and spending hours tinkering. The reality is that I have little children, a new house and a company to run. Life has moved on and I'm thinking of getting a 330i TD M-Sport.

I'll keep it if it turns out to be worth peanuts then I'll just buy a new one and garage this one for now but that's not ideal.

You must have some sort of figure in mind yourself????

Age old and usually unhelpfull comment, but it's worth whatever someone is wiling to pay for it and whatever you are willing to let it go for. So what are you willing to let it go for?

Well known phrase comes to mind - you cant be the buyer and the seller!

If it puts a smile on your face then keep it, I still miss her and if I had the funds would buy like a shot. To be honest I wish I had never let her go in the first place but hey no point having regrets
