Cut out.... i hate it

Featured Replies

Bought my Fabia (2000 1400 16v) over a year ago, couple of days later the POWER STEERING pump died. Replaced with genuine part. .... ££££££!!

Fine for 13 months then..

Car started revving its self, (had been doing this on & off for 6 months) EGR flow fault code, cleaned, all fine. 2 weeks later same.. a day later same and ENGINE MANAGEMENT light.... so i bought an EGR!! £££!

few days later...

my steering went again, showing same symptoms (i thought typical, pump just out of warranty!!) BATTERY REPLACED (electric pump) all fine!

starts revving its self again!

going down the motor way last night 80mph, ENGINE CUT OUT completely, OIL LIGHT on, checked oil .. fine.

started engine (first time) steering locked

turned off engine, started again, steering fine, managed to get back but kept below 50mph

car felt underpowered, and 'twitchy' on steering

checked ALT this morning output fine!!

H . E . L . P!!!!!

Get the fault codes scanned - it's all guesswork otherwise! :S

If im honest it sounds like a bit of a pig in a poke, would probably end up being more cost effective to just swap it for another with all the problems as it sounds like a load of electrical faults...

Does it not log fault codes that have happened recently? Purely guessing here ;)

Where abouts are you located? Might be a member on here with VAGCOM / VCDS willing to help you out :-)

If you're in the Norfolk area I can.

just got it back

no fault codes present..

non in memory ..

:S :S :S :S

It starts OK, I take it?

If the work was done at a Skoda dealer then I think genuine replacement parts have a 2-year warranty. I'd certainly be asking the dealer to ask Skoda to make a contribution as the very expensive pump they replace should definitely last longer than a year. That's assuming they did actually replace the pump and it wasn't the alternator or a dead battery that they actually replaced.

I wonder if those faults might be from changing the battery, and not anything to do with the actual fault? I seem to recall I get lots of random faults when the battery is disconnected!

Don't give up on the poor Skoda yet :-(
