Gear knob twisting?

Featured Replies

Hey all, ive recently done the pikey short shift mod and love it! But i may have broken something...the gear knob twists around which i thought was just where i didnt tighten it enough, but looking at the whole stick when i lift the gaiter up, the knob is on tight and the whole stick down to the spring section moves? Have i broken something?

help appreciated as always, and sorry for the amount of knobs :giggle:

The gear knob is secured to the stick by a collar clamp which you must have removed to take it off. You can either replace the collar clamp with a new one, or use cables ties or a jubilee clip.

Jubilee clip or hose clamp, good and tight!

Ah, right enough, sorry.

What's your own opinion?

I don't have an opinion - but that's better than giving the wrong one...

Fair enough, hope the OP gets it sorted.

Having re-read this I would think the answer is probably 'yes - you have broken something'.

Here's an exploded diagram of the gearshift lever assembly. If the whole stick is spinning, not just the gear knob, then it looks like you may have broken the bottom of the stick (labelled 12 on the diagram)

Hope this helps

Thanks
