hi, i've browse the forums for info before but i can't seem to find anything on my current worry.

I've got a Fabia 1.2 53 plate, and the eml light came on and the car was shuddering immediately after changing into 3rd. Took the car to a local dealer and they were unable to diagnose the problem. They ended up saying the engine needed to be stripped to see if the problem was the cylinder head or if the engine needed decoking.

When they stripped the engine they say the cylinder head was ok, and they decoked the engine (this cost £840....... )

That was about 4-5 weeks ago, today the engine has major shudders in 2nd, then changing into 3rd and 4th, then the eml light comes on again...... having just spent a load out, i wondered if anyone had any idea what this new problem may be.

Welcome sounds very much like your EGR valve has gone kaput if so yes you've had unecessary work done!

would have said so tbh its something i would check personally, egr valves can cause all sorts of stupid problems!
