Pleasant surprise - Scout

Featured Replies

I ordered my Scout by e-mail 14.09. I mailed my closest Skoda dealer(360km) and agreed on the car and the extras(xenon, sound-system, Bolero, sun-set, MDI, Cruise-cntrl).

This week I have been in the city on military training("home guard"). I decided to visit my dealer since I after all was in the city. Outside I saw to my big surprise that my car had arrived. Now the dealer will insert some other extras like Defa smart start and dvd-system and I will soon be able to pick it up. Really can't wait!

Yeah I am excitied about the Haldex4 system. I have driven some cars with Haldex 2 and Haldex 3 and they can't compare at all with my Outback. I have understood that the new Haldex 4 is a lot better than earlier systems.

Fuel economy is the reason why I am downgrading the Outback to 2nd car.

I must say that this car really beats the old Subaru. The Haldex system is flawless. The Subaru lacks ESP and just feels not as safe and solid as the Scout.

Very nice car - I wish we in the UK had access to some of the options available in mainland Europe and Scandinavia - I'd like the sound system, webasto heater and winter alloys at least!

I didn't realise the Octavia Scout had the latest Haldex 4, was this upgraded at the same time as the facelift then?

I don´t know if the upgrade came with the facelift or if it is new on the 2011 models

Maybe others can help...

I went on Giggleemoticon-0136-giggle.gif and found this article http://www.zercustom...t-facelift.html which states that the 4th generation Haldex was fitted to the 2009 FL Scout. The option of DSG to the Octy Scout arrives this month.

I found another link http://www.awdwiki.com/article.html?inc=sko which explains a few things.

Thing is, as I am typing this, the words "You really need to get out more!" have just appeared on my screen!!!emoticon-0140-rofl.gifemoticon-0106-crying.gif

Another former Outback owner here, and I agree entirely - Scout feels much safer and solid. It is also heavier, but part of that is down to the diesel (I had the4 2.5i Outback). I've only gone as far as rough made roads (washaways and 3" rocks included) but happy with its performance on those surfaces. Haven't tried beach running yet, and don't know whether I'll miss the low range gearing - which I used 4 times in 6 years on the Outback....

Same here. When I bought the Outback, the dealer made a huge fuzz about the low range gears and how this would complete my needs. However like you I noticed pretty fast that I didn´t need it. I also had the 2,5 l engine which was more thirsty than Keith Richards before a gig.

On snow the Outback had a tendency to oversteer. The scout has just been solid; never letting go of it´s grip. But on the other side; I am running the scout with brand new winter tyres and maybe not pushing it very hard yet :p
