I never thought i would say it!

Featured Replies

My work have just got some occy tdi's to replace some old fleet cars, i have been using one today and i must say i am mightily impressed! The torque on it is really great and the drive is so much better than a petrol mpi i tried the other week. I still would't have a diesel but these really are good if a diesel is your thing.

2 strange things i noticed though.

1) Central locking key thingy only opens the drivers door.

2) The headlights are on ALL the time when the ignition is on (surely not right) they wont turn off by the switch, and they are full brightness not less as in the Volvo/Saab type.

The central locking can be set up to do this - I've had my remote set to only open the drivers door on the first click, a double click opens all doors.

Don't know about the headlights though

fords do this on the locking, its there to help stop jacking

The lights sounds like light assist is installed. The light control switch should have four settings:

0 - All off

Picture of Light Beam & Tunnel - Light Assist Mode lights turn themselves on when dull or going through tunnels

Side Lights

Main Beam

You can also set the car to turn your lights on for x Secs when you open or close the car via the keyfob. Which in a dark car park at night is ideal, can't miss the thing.

Have you got this on yours? Is it any good?

Yes & Yes, bar it is annoying at times when the lights come on for no apparent reason. For example today going down M6 in bright sunshine and went passed a Artic which shaded me and the lights came on. Having said that, that is what it is supposed to do. Could do with a adjustment for the amount of darkness required to activate the lights as I feel personally they come on to early.

I'll look forward to that then - I ordered the light assistant on mine, despite the fact that the dealer had absolutely no idea what it was!! I thought hey, only

Correct it is just Radio Control Options. Cruise Control is on the left hand stork. The buttons are nice though as they are flush against the steering wheel the touch type but they click so are not touch sensitive, also an option to have them illuminated or not.

Thanks for that - I'll look forward to trying them out when my car comes

This light assistant sounds ok (different), I'll see if I can add it to my order!

Black Octy II Elegance 2.0 TDI, 17in Alloys, leather, boot spoiler..... on order
