Winter tires for Fabia I vRS

Featured Replies

Hello,

I need winter tires for my Fabia vRS (2006). I'd like to use the original R16 alloys and put on them 205/45 R16 winter tires.

Can you recommend any? Which tires do you (vRS owners) use?

Thanks & Greetings,

Lukasz

Hi,

They are actually quite difficult to get a hold of in the UK. The only ones I could find when I was buying mine were Kumho KW23s. I used them last year when we had bad snow (for the UK) and they were very good. They weren't even too expensive - certainly compared to the equivalents from Continental, Dunlop or Michelin.

Thanks for the answer. I live in Poland, and I can buy here for example such tires:

Goodyear Eagle GW3

Hankook Icebear W300

Dunlop SP WinterSport M3

Bridgestone LM25

...

Winter tyres don't seem to be very popular in the UK. After the relatively heavy snow last year, and predictions of more of the same this winter, I've just got a set for my vRS. I've gone for 195/50/15 Avon CR85s, mostly because 15" rims just fit over the brakes and the tyres are much cheaper than 16"s. It's too early to tell how they'll perform yet (they've only been on a day!)

I would think you'll be fine with any decent make of winter tyre, but I've done a quck google and found this link to winter tyre tests which I hope you'll find useful.

I have the Dunlops on my TT but I have only just bought them so I can't comment on how they will drive in the cold weather. They do look the part though.
