1000 mile Review Fabia SE Estate 105CR TDi

Featured Replies

Well my Fabia has now done over over a 1000 miles and its great!

The most striking improvemnt over my previous Octavia is the refinemment. This new engine is incrediably quiet and unintrusive. There is a small amount of tyre noise but it is certanly the quietest car I have ever driven.

The fuel consumption continues to improve and I am regularly getting fuel comsumption in the late 50mpg area.

The build quality is good to great with only the door trims seeming a little cheap and nasty.

The headlights are only okay but main beam is good. The DRLs are quite effective for the daytime. Havent had a need for the front fogs yet!

The ride is smooth over bad surfaces near where I live but the car does roll when going round a sweeping bend. Should have ordered sports suspension!

I find the seats comfortable and supportive. Also had no complaints from 4 teenagers last weekend on an hours journey. Dog is happy sitting in the boot.

The engine pulls well and growls beautifully when you change gear! When the engine is fully run in, there will be bags and bags of torque for my needs. In many respects you have to drive the car like a a petrol and change up later especially into 5th gear and not much before about 45mph. Not a great deal happens below 1750rpm, so you just have to adjust to the cars characteristics accordingly!

The dreaded DPF has kicked in about 4 times in the last 5 weeks and there is a slight whiff of burning rubber then it is gone.

I would recommend a Fabia to anyone looking at buying a small car.

Forgot to say in my review that the "dreaded DPF" has kicked in about 4 or 5 times, normally after driving up the motorway to work and there is a slight wiff of "burnt rubber" for about 5 minutes then its gone .

I cant see what the problem is providing the car gets a good run now and again.

You are right threadbear, there isn't a problem especially as Skoda and VW have learnt a few lessons about when the software drives the regens. Glad you are pleased with it, keep on posting as you get more miles on it.

Nearly 15000 miles on my DPF equipped Greenline. Mine regens a lot more often it would appear but its regular as clockwork and lasts for about 5-10 mins depending on how your driving. It never smells at all. Maybe mine has a smaller DPF. Or perhaps the CR is just better at not producing as much soot to clog it. I sometimes wonder if mine is triggered on a mileage basis rather than blockage.....it is suspiciously predictable...

(Approx every 120 miles)
