SECURITY FOR PARKED CAR

Featured Replies

When parked outside my house, I had my previous car written off 3 years ago, and my current Octavia RS was driven into 2 weeks ago. Luckily, it was not written off, but it was a close run thing. I am at my wit's end, and am thinking what on earth do I do next, apart from moving house of course. I've tried contacting the council to try and get something done to the pavement, as I'd rather leave the car outside the house, rather than consider the option of parking elsewhere. Are there any security lights out there that I could attach onto the rear end driver's side, as a visual warning to oncoming vehicles? I've tried an internet search, but not sure what to type into the search engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just stick a big road cone infront of the car i know it won't stop people crashing your car but the will see the cone...you'd think.

Can't you put on the sidelights on the road side?

Duck tape some thin cycle lights on the wing sticking out , put them on flash , battery will last at least a week , something like this only £6.99 inc delivery

Which county mate?

Who is that question too, and about what

You could use the parking lights, already built into the car as thats what they are for.

After you turn off the ignition, simply operate the indicator stalk in the appropriate direction and the front and rear lights on that side of the car only illuminate. In some EU countries its a legal requirement to use them in unlit roads, hence why we also have them.

Manny beat me to it :)

Other option is to have a home cctv camera pointing at it with a light that actvates on movement.

a cone sounds like a good idea - along with parking lights - its what they're for.

You need some of those cones like they have at roadworks to close off a lane.

A couple of people near me who live on a busy road near the M1 park on the road and have fitted small LEDs to the front and rear on the drivers side. Presumably because they use very little power. One car has them stuck on the bumper but the other is integrated into the lights somehow. I don't get a good look as the cars are at the bottom of a hill just before a busy roundabout.
