Featured Replies

Hi

In the area where i live there is loads of white MK1 octavias running about that have 2008 and 2009 reg plates?? How can this be?? I thought the Mk1 stopped at a 55 REG??

Apologies if this has already been covered by anyone else?

STOO

Taxi's only iirc

Not available to the general public

Yeah, I think some company in Scotland imported them for several years. Says a lot about what cab drivers thought of the Mk2, really...

My local Skoda dealer was still selling new Mk1's to the public last year! I got a photo because I was so shocked. I think it was only available with the diesel and basic options.

The Mk1 is still available new to the public in some countries. It was called the "Drive+" in Austria up until the middle of this year. It has now been superceeded there by the "Tour" which is a pre-facelift Mk2. The first "Tour" was a Mk1, and is still available in Poland where it's yet to be superceeded by the Mk2 "Tour": http://www.skoda-auto.pl/pl/modele-osobowe/octavia-tour.html

That Polish one basically has the original interior, but interestingly it has the new style steering wheel (the smiley face one), which I've never seen before. Could be a new mod for people.....

No budget older versions available in the UK, France and Germany by the looks of the websites. Spain still has the Mk1 Octavia Tour available too: http://www.skoda.es/VAE/SKODA/WWW/PRD/opencms/vehiculos/octaviatour/vehiculo_0001

Hopefully they keep pumping out the Mk1's for years to come. I'm hoping they reach the 20yr mark! They started way back in 1996, so only 6 more years to go. The longer they make them the cheaper/more available the parts are in theory!

Maybe the Mk1 Octavia will become a hero to Skoda like the Beetle is to VW....... It would have to last about 65yrs though to get that sort of status!!

Here in Croatia you can still buy octy mk1 Tour model, it comes with 1.9tdi pd 105hp and 1.6 100hp mpi motor. It cost around 16000 euro.

I saw a 57 plate mk1 the other day non taxi

As others have said , Skoda Tour. Drove one when in CZ last year as mother in law to be had one. Had VRS stylee seats, ie standard seats with furry material and a V logo :D , rear spoiler and Xenon lights. But only 90bhp. They are everywhere in Prague - as Taxi's.
