A pump from a 6n Polo with the same AEF engine might work as well (being technically the same AFAIK), can anyone else confirm this?

Bear in mind the control unit on the bottom of the pump forms part of the immobiliser, so you'll probably need to re-code your keys after swapping the pumps over too.

yes the diesel injecion pump is exactly the same... you dont need to recode the keys, but you do need to reset the basic settings/adaption for the ecu to accept the new pump

You can use a pump from any of :

- any diesel Felicia

- diesel VW Caddy (1996-2001) pickup (which is a rebadged Felicia, not the van which is really a SEAT Inca)

- diesel 6n (1995-2002) Polo with the 1.9 AEF engine - there are a few other diesel engines in this model of Polo which use a different pump (I think it might a Bosch one instead of the Lucas one that you need)

Once it's fitted you'll need someone with VAG-com/VCDS or a garage with diagnostic equipment to do the recoding Tom mentions above (thankfully that's much easier than recoding the keys as I thought), otherwise you won't be able to start the engine.

as above these cars/vans mate;

- any diesel Felicia

- diesel VW Caddy (1996-2001) pickup (which is a rebadged Felicia, not the van which is really a SEAT Inca)

if it's a bosch pump it's not the right one for you, should be a lucas.
