Past tense now, it's gone :(

A quick Google for 6u7860637a shows that 6u7860637a is not suitable for a Fun. Does anyone know why?

Presumably it's not cut to fit round the extra bits the Fun has behind the cab (compared to the standard pickup)

And the spoiler at the rear.

The rubber boot liner can be fitted in the fun, just needs to be trimmed at the bottom so you can pull the bulkhead out.

Ah, so it's over-size then. That's not so bad :) Thanks guys :)

As far as the bed goes, am going to replace the strips first (they had all basically rotted away - burned nicely though) then decide what to do. Have had a couple of ideas ;-)

Alex

The side fittings are also different on the Fun, the fun covers slide along the trims where the pick up ones hook into the eyelets.

The strips on the bed are hellish to get off on the fun and the sealer used to bond them down takes ages to chip away and the bed will need to be painted afterwards.

Ah, eyelets? where would they be? I thought the normal pickup had a c-channel too.

The wood and the bonding came off scareily easily (more gentle patience than technique), most of the bonding stayed on the wood. The paint suffered very very little damage as it came off. (I think in places just the top coat, there's no metal exposed.) A gentley applied sharp chisel

The plan was to either re-strip it, making sure that the strips were well treated, bonded and sealed (right to the edge of the wood) or repaint the bed and ply-board it. Given that it's not a work-horse, I thought ply-boarding might be over the top, even if it was cut to fit with the cab wall deployed. However the rubber liner could be useful for those odd days it has to do some work.

Not sure all of them have the eyelets on the pick up, might depend if its been a cube van before etc.

Your lucky with the bed then, mine took forever to get back to a paintable surface.

Miss my Fun, would love to buy it back :)

yes i think tech1e is right about the cube not having the eyelets....when i ordered the cover from skoda the guy asked if i wanted the fitting kit....something to do with the eyelets i think, the dealer didnt know ...very helpful though and is going to supply the fitting kit at no extra charge...top man....as i have too park the pick up on a hill facing downwards it is collecting a fair amount of rain water overnight...makes it interesting the following morning when i take the corner at the bottom of the hill !!!!!!

hi...not looked at this thread for a while.....i think it was just short of £90...i will find the reciept out and check....iam having trouble with the pick-up at the moment and its stuck in the garage of doom at the bottom of my garden.....hopfully sorted soon....i`ll take some pictures for you then......

i've got a tonneua cover for mine from a company called monsoon 4x4, it was £90 including the fittings, it uses little press on popper studs that you wind into the bed trims. still not fitted it yet though because my pickup is still in the paint shop
