Weather strips at bottom of window on door popping off

The weather strip thing on my rear drivers side door keeps popping off. Presumably it has been knocked off as the driver gets out and now has difficulty staying in position. I have lifted it off and there is a retaining clip on the door. Could a bodge like wrapping some self-amalgamating tape around this clip where it holds the seal help keep it in position?
