Octavia II (1Z) vRS Badges

1Z0 853 679 LAQ Front Grille

1Z0 853687 H LAQ Rear Boot

The original V badge is self adhesive and applied to a backing plate which

is in turn glued to the slats.

It almost sounds like this has been discussed before... :p

I've recently fitted a mk2 vRS badge to the front of my SE.

When fitting, i was expecting the original backing plate to come off with the badge. Thankfully (I think...) it did not, so I have attached the new badge to the original backing plate. I had to use some number plate tape as the new grille badge is not self adhesive. I think it looks ok, but slightly sticks out a little where it is not directly attached to the grille slats, due to a couple of layers of plastic.

I'm sure that I'll get some feedback at the forthcoming Kent meet, and it's attachment may need revising.

Re: the rear badge, this is self adhesive and I put it on in place of the original (I.e. Right hand side of boot lid). I now think that it may look a little weird as all the current vRS models have it positioned on the left side, so am contemplating moving it....

Was it the latest facelift vRS badge you fitted?? I fitted the vRS badge from an original pre-facelift OctyII rather than the facelift and it came with a sticky pad on the inside of the badge and also a new backing plate which i araldited onto the grille.

If it was a pre-facelift it looks like they might have changed them then...... Or was it not bought from a dealer?

Cheers

It is the latest badge Dave and yes, both front and rear were purchased from a dealer.

The rear is self adhesive, but the front is not. The front badge has a black plastic backing plate already attached, which has spaced indentations on it. I assume that these are designed to line up with, and be attached to the new style grille slats. But they do not line up with the mk1 grille slats, so I found it easier to attach the entire badge and plate to the original backing plate.

Right makes sense then. Looks like, with the facelift badge, they've tried to save a tiny amount of money on each badge by removing a small bit of sticky pad. :smirk:

The one thing i do like about the pre-facelift OctyII vRS badge is that the coloured sections are reflective and it looks great when parked up and is lit up by headlights of passing cars.

I also re-used my original vRS grille badge by moving it to the engine cover.......

Here's some pics of the pre-facelift OctyII badge in daylight and then lit up by the camera flash and also what i did with my old grille badge......

i done mine the same way pretty much, only i have the badge shown at the top of the post :) i used a steel rule to pull the original off which left the backing plate which was good as it allowed me to line it up :) i then sanded down the backing plate to give me a good surface for sticking to. i then removed the new badge from the pack and again used a belt sander to file off the slots on it used for lining it up on the new grill which obviously didn fit mine lol after it was sanded and flat i applied a small piece of glue to the original backing plate and stuck it on. looks brill tbh, makes the car look alot fresher. i also have the new rear badge but dont think it will be going on as it doesnt equate with the "fabia" badge so will keep original which i like anyway tbh, the to badges match wel as now the front and rear have the letters rs :)

Wilsy - lose the fabia badge and the new vRS badge really freshens the rear up
