Intermittant Power Steering

Featured Replies

okay so i've had my dash light going on and off for a few days now, besides the workout its giving me, the heavy steering is really starting to annoy me. ive read on here that it could be due to a faulty steering angle sensor? will this show up on vagcom if i get my car plugged in? i obviously want to know exactly whats wrong before i start changing parts as being 19 im abit strapped for cash.

any insight or help from you guys would be a bonus, and if anyone knows where i could get a decent but slightly cheaper than most sensor, id be delighted to hear :p dont want no cheap aftermarket rubbish though, like most id rather pay and know its right :)

thanks in advance :)

EDIT: and on another note, if anyone knows where is best to buy 205/45/16 part worns from, id be interested :p tyres arent suitable for winter anymore

Check the VAG-COM forum for someone near you with a proper code reader.

Also, check the aux drive belt tension.

As for tyres, "part-worns" are frequently at the point where I'd think of changing them. My Octy is heavier than your Furbie, and starts spining up the fronts on high throttle at about 3mm tread and 6mm water depth.

You can't be THAT hard up if you can run a remap at 19?!? It's worth checking the condition of the battery before you start whipping out sensors, as a failing battery can cause a lot of the symptoms put down to angle sensors, PAS pumps etc. etc.

Sorry to hi-jack. But i have the same sort of issue.

Been told mine may be leaking since its intermittent.

Could this possibly be the battery at fault?

I also have issues with the Traction control light coming on after 20 mins or so driving and the lights dim when turning?

i have a friend who has all the equipment to do it, he says he's going to look at it tonight for me :) so hopefully that'll show any faults

i may be 19, but i work part time in a bike shop, i just pay my insurance monthly, thats why i can afford it. however, i will check the battery before, thanks :)
