Hi all, I'm new to the board. First of all, the site looks great.

I friend of mine has a 2001 Fabia Elagence. The car has developed a little problem. The courtsey light on the bottom of the drivers door has stopped working. When the drivers door is open the interior light does not come on either, and the lights on left on alarm has stopped working. I've taken the door card off to see if there is any loose wires, but there isn't. I'm not sure if it's the door mecanism or not.

Sounds like the mircoswitch in the door has failed (detects open/closed state).

I've no idea how to go about fixing this, but I think it's quite a common issue so a search should work. If not, try this link - may need to change the keywords around slightly though.
