Hi. Had a service and got told that i needed a new PAS steering rack since mine was leaking on the N/S and had suspect low fluid.

It was deemed as the PAS was intermitttent. JKM want £720 to fit and supply one.

Just wondering if it could be the angle sensor?

If it isnt, Ive found this on ebay:

They rebuild the racks in return for you old one.

Is the above safe and decent to use?

Also, can say one side be replaced or a seal or something?

If none of the above, where can i purchase a new PAS rack for cheapest + what cars will others fit off?

EDIT: What about PAS seal stuff? The additive? my MOT is next month and the leak is a fail...

I'd get it from Eurocarparts, they are well established and probably easier to deal with if you have any problems.

Yeah. All the companies on their only offer refurbed racks instead of brandnew.

But these racks are a 3rd of the price of a skoda one so...

If its leaking then it needs replacing and quite a pain... never had a problem with a refurb rack myself

Sorry - I'm confused here - if the rack's leaking it has to be repaired/replaced doesn't it? Mine cost around £600 at a Skoda dealer...

I'd reckon that the re-con'd one would be best as it would be TRW - as long as your original one is TRW.

If your rack (and pump) are not TRW, then look elsewhere - maybe that is where the ECP option comes in and they claim their one is SMI which might the the other steering kit fitted to Fabias.

But theres like 3 different options lol.

One they call standard and then another two with ESP egg shapes or something lol.
