Apparently they just fit on the inside of the 2 wings with some Velcro. That's what ive been told and have now done!

Do the ballast have a bare metal back? If so it is essential that they are properly grounded directly to the chassis.

Some come with metal brackets. The ballasts are screwed/bolted to the bracket and the bracket is screwed to the chassis.

The proper/factory fit ones in my Polo are fully metal outsides (I think) and they just screw into the light housing. If they are earthed via the wiring to/from the ballast I dunno (assume so), but I don't recall seeing any wire going off just to the chassis or anything.

It's only a problem with the ballasts on aftermarket HIDs.

Google 'aftermaket HID wiper motor' for more info.

The problem is not that the HIDs don't work, it's that if you don't use the bracket and ground it to the chassis, you will cause damage to other electrical components. The first to go is usually the wiper motor.

The bracket is designed so the whole of the metal back contacts it and then is grounded to chassis via the mounting screws. The bracket has been added to the kits to prevent electrical problems.

duck tape an stuck to the inside of the arches lol
