Hello and welcome.

Welcome to the Briskoda Forums

I thnik he is talking about car purchase tax, not road tax possibly.

The tax on the cost of a car is 100% if i remember correctly from talking to a taxi driver when i was there.

It's 180% cough, cough....I think I'm going to be picking the worlds most expensive Superb in the next fortnight....

Ouch, it has gone up even more since i spoke to the taxi driver over 6 years ago.

I was over in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago and was also told that you can't import or drive a car registered in another country!

Your government certainly knows how to encourage cycling!!

At least you have chosen a fine car. Hope you're enjoying it and trying to forget about those repayments!

Hi,

Apologies for the late reply, have been enjoying the snow a little too much of late. Your right Griffo_Vrs, I used to drive my GB plated car over here for a few years and then got done by the tax authorities. It's a fair trade, I suppose, with hindsight as everyone has to pay the taxes.

Thanks for the compliment on the car, it has only just arrived from the factory and the dealer is now adding all of the extra's that can be dealer-fitted. It is cheaper doing it this way as then you don't have to pay registration tax on the extra's that are not factory-fitted.

Just incase your interested, the Danish standard list price of a Skoda Superb Combi Elegance 170 CR manual is: DKK 457,000 (not OTR price) which translates to approx: £51,460. For the road tax (which is paid every 6 months) on the same car you pay DKK 2,880 which is approx £324.30. The latter figure I am quite happy about as it actually represents a saving from my current car! I got the prices from Skoda.dk

If I look at Skoda.co.uk the list price says the same car in the UK costs £21,379.17 (not OTR) which equates to a saving of £30,080.83 - not 180% but once you take the OTR pricing and additional equipment you can get nearer the figure.

Depsite the high price, the thing that really gets to me is that the UK has a much higher base spec of car than Denmark - I have had to really spec up my car to get it close to the Elegance UK spec and its not all there! I'll be bringing the car over to the UK just before Easter and It's pretty hard to identify from a British perspective what spec it is cause it just looks like a mix of all with the different wheels, chrome surrounds and non-leather interior!

Luckily its a company car so if the year treats us well then I should be a very happy Skoda driver!

Best.
