Featured Replies

Ours is due its first/annual service soon, could I ask you to help me with the following please?

1)how much did you pay?

2)where was it done?

3)would you recommend them?

Many thanks in anticipation,I will be intrigued to note any regional differences.

10k lube circa

I would recommend my dealer but don't think you would want to travel all the way to Lincoln ;)

If you have done 10k miles and you car is a fair bit less than 12months old you are looking at the just the oil chsange not the full annual inspection

Oil change seems to be about

Check out the reviews section for dealer reviews. Jacksons of Basingstoke have received a lot of praise in the past, but I've not used them personally. As Ross said, there are 2 types of minor service and here in sunny Hampshire, I was quoted

OK silly question time...

If I do 1k miles a month in my Fabia VRS, do I need a 10k Lube service at that point, then two months later need an Annual service as well or should I get the annual service done at the 10month stage or what ????

What have other done ???

Easier just to get an annual "inspection and lube" service done. I think the guidelines say something like an inspection should be performed annually, so if you only have one service a year, it should include an inspection.....

the manual recommends you have the anual service done which includes an oil change if you hit the 10000 at just under a year

my anual service cost

I got the annual inspection and lubrication service at the same time. Car was 9 months old and 10,000 miles.

Halls of Ruddington (Nottingham) serviced mine and did a great job, highly recommended.

Buy your oil direct from Guy (aka Oilman) at OPIE Oils at less than

If you have your 10k lube done then the car doesnt need to be serviced again for another 10,000 miles OR another year from the date of the service.

My 10k service was done after about 9 months, 120 inc vat, Saltdean garage nr Brighton. No complaints, done on time no problems.

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life but have a question about an upcoming service!

I got my little vRS mid Feb and have covered 9500 miles  SO will be booking her in for the oil change in the next week or so..! At this rate ill need the 20000 oil change in Sep/Oct and prob be on the 30000 by next Feb when the car is a year old.

Would I need the Inspection service prior to next feb?

Cheers

Andy

You need to have an inspection service every year or 20k miles, whichever comes sooner so your 20k service will include this (so expect to pay about 200 quid). :D

I take it this was some time ago as their newish Shoreham branch just quoted me

I have 16000 miles on my pd100, i change my oil, oil filter and air filter every 5000 miles and fuel filter every 10000. We have very bad fuel in my country so i do my service sooner than it should be(manual says i should do it if my fuel is bad). Anyway oil(castrol 505.01), oil and air filter and labor is about 100 euros and if i change fuel filter I add 50 more. We dont have lube inspection, but every time i change my oil they do some kind of an inspection, but I really doubt they trully inspect something.

I've just booked my car in yesterday (13th) at the Gloucester dealer -

Thats jut fine 1,000 miles or 1 month is neither here nor there. Is your car a year old then?

No - took delivery in November though registered mid-October - predicted mileage will go down significantly after early July, hence doing the annual inspection now to make the subsequent servicing regime more sensible. Otherwise it would need to be serviced again at around 14/15,000 miles. See my detailed response on other threads re the quandary - e.g. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showpost.php?p=310230&postcount=17

The problem imminently is that I'm doing 120 miles tomorrow, 250 miles on Friday, potentially away for the weekend = 250 miles, possibly 250 miles next Wednesday and 250 miles the following Wednesday, plus daily use around town before the service. That's taking it VERY close to the 11,000 point, even assuming I'm allowed the 1,000 grace period - which as I say doesn't seem to be in writing anywhere. I'd naively assumed I could book the car in for next Monday... :(

Dont worry about it, ive seen cars come in for first services with 15k on the clock and they just have an annual inspection. Its not ideal but if you cant physically get a booking what are you supposed to do?

It will be fine.

simple David... friday and next weeks Addlestone site visit you take the hire car as a lot of other staff do!

my car is also booked in to the same garage as you - 28th of this month with c/car!

It will be fine.[/quote'] I'm afraid it WON'T be fine in my case. I want the car to have a proper full unquestionable service history when I come to sell it. I have had problems with the service history of the three previous cars all bought from the respective main dealers.

Curiously the service indicator on mine still hasn't yet come on despite it now showing nearly 9,800 miles...
