H3 recommendations?

Featured Replies

Im looking for any recommendations for full beam H3 replacements.Ive currently got 5000k HIDs as headlights so am after something to compliment them hopefully white in colour to match.

Cheers

I'd go yellow.. If you have HID's the only time you'll need high beams is when the weather is really bad.

I'd go Osram Super all season if yellow is the recommendation :)

Yep, I have some of those, H3's and H7's. Strangely though the H7's are much much more yellow then H3's................. (and H7's are rare beasts to find nowadays)

Do you guys use these bulbs in the normal headlights, or can you get special lenses for the Mk1 now? I would be terrified of someone driving into the front of me due to being blinded by them....

They're not that special - and they are fully legal - just a bit brighter than standard bulbs. With the emphasis on the "just" - I've put Osram Nightbreaker Plus in my dipped beams and there's not a lot of difference - somewhat more but they do claim "up to 90%"

I think you are thinking of HID/Xenon bulbs. These are illegal unless you have specially designed lenses (there are plenty of threads about them). The only other bulbs are higher wattage 'Rally' bulbs or very blue ones (Diamond Vision) as these are sold as "for off road use only".

The yellow 'All Weather bulbs' will be good for front fog lights, as they work better in poor weather. If you want whiter light for main beams, try Osram NightBreaker Plus or the blue coloured bulbs like Philips Blue Vision.
