Hi guys,

Just drove my wifes Octavia VRS (petrol 2006) and up on the dash came the service light. Does anyone know how much a 40,000 mile service is going to be? The car is supposed to be on a variable service schedule so its the car 4th service.

Thanks in advance

Tim

\has the cam belt been changed (4yrs or 60,000 miles)?, as that could bump it up a bit!

Yes the cambelt has been changed i made sure it had been done before i bought it, only had the car since september.

Best bet is to call a couple of Skoda dealers in your area & check prices as these cab vary greatly depending on dealer location.

Variable service is usually around 18k for each service. standard service is every 10k. So if it is on 4th service at 40k then it aint on variable servicing.

i've checked the service book and that says that it is variable service interval QG1 but when i looked at the intervals the first one was at 18,000 miles, the second was at 31,000 and the spanner has come on telling me the service is due at 41,000. It appears that the variable has been used to start with but then its been changed to 10,000 intervals. Is this right? can the intervals be that soon as i thought it was supposed to be up to 2 years.

I think the service reset only stays on extended if reset with VAGCOM. If reset on the dash with ignition key, I'm sure it reverts back to normal servicing.

That sounds about right then as the last service was not done by Skoda it was done by an RAC auto centre, the guy i bought the car off did say that long life oil was used. I suppose i need to get the service light reset!

It should tell you how to do it in your owners handbook

if it helps i have just had my 2006 petrol vrs serviced by a vag specialist, only interim sevice so oil,oil filter brake fluid and full inspection, service indicator reset etc.

car only done 8k miles....but service cost me £185 all in (including vat!!!!!) so it aint cheap!

next year when car is 5 years old it will need full major service, and although its low miles i will change everything.oils, filters, plugs, etc.....they reckon it will be about

£325 all in (pats, labour and vat!)......this is NOT including cam belt!! :(

Local Stealer has quoted me for 40k service on Variable plan £231

Hi guys,

I went to my local dealer today and explained that i thought my car had been put onto fixed rather than variable service. They pluged the car in and confirmed it had been set to fixed, they then changed the service counter to variable for me so now i've got another 5500miles to a service. While i was there i asked for a price on the next service of £250 and that will be the third variable service.

Thanks for all your help

Sorted!

for an extra 50 quid you could go for skodas servicing deal which would see you covered for the nect two years/two services for 299 quid. They then would give you 100quid back in vouchers which you can put towards parts ( if taken out before the end of the year)
