question on current Octavia deals..

Featured Replies

Hello.

I'm very possibly about to go put a deposit on a new Octavia (1.4 Tsi Elegance, to those interested) but have a quick question.

The NO VAT (ie 17.5% automatic discount) that is on offer at the moment has been applied to the vehicle price only - not the extras (metallic paint etc). Is this what they do? Or could the discount apply to the whole lot? What are other people's experiences?

Wondering whether I ought to try to wangle a bit more off..

Good choice of car! When I was looking to order mine I used drivethedeal to get an idea of the best price and then went to my local dealer to see how close he could get to it. I was able to get the price within a few hundred pounds which I was happy with.

You get the vat discount on the extras too. (At least I did when i ordered mine back in August - to be delivered in Dec :'( - don't hold your breath)

VAT is on the whole package (inc. options)

My order priced out as follows

Basic car price - 17.5% = £xxx

Metallic paint -17,5% -=£www

Optional Maxidot - 17.5% = £yyy

Optional full size spare -17.5% = £zzz

Add all these together to get final price, if your dealer is not doing this then either tell them its not correct, or go elsewhere

Wow. Thanks for the very prompt replies everyone! Very useful.

Also, the dealer has quoted me a delivery date of March - but has added (real) VAT @ 17.5% and made absolutely no mention of the 2.5% VAT rise that would occur in the meantime. As a car salesman he would surely have realised the price he was quoting would not be the price I'd end up paying ??

I only realised this afterwards and (unless I've got my wires crossed here) it has really annoyed me

from what my dealer has told me and get this confirmed before you place the order. Skoda will honour the VAT discount and order price on cars ordered before 31/12/2010. But make a point of asking the question and if possible get it confirmed in writing as any order form will have a get out of "subject to local taxes"

I was told for a car delivered after 1st Jan 2011 theat Skoda would honour the discount equivalent to the current 17.5% VAT, but that the extra due to the increased VAT would be down to me.

I have been told that if my car gets delayed beyond 2nd Jan that he will fight SUK to honour the 17.5% discount.

Also had confirmed my order price is fixed on the ordering system.

what price did you agree?

that's the important bit - remember, the invoice MUST show VAT. they are basically giving you 17.5% off.
