My new pressure washer

Featured Replies

Thanks to those who gave their recommendations for a cheap and cheerful pressure washer to replace my rather old and knackered one that broke recently. I went for for the Nilfisk C110 3-5 X-TRA

Nilfisk-C-110.3-5-X-TRA-m.jpg

This little machine is about 2ft in height and cost a mere £55 from Screwfix with free next day delivery. I ordered at about 5pm and it arrived the morning after. That to me is great service.

The unit required some simple assembly and barring a blonde/senior moment (both of which I am not!) the whole thing was ready to role in about 10 minutes.

So out I went today to use it; and what a glorious day too! Now normally I would use my i4detailing foam lance but as yet I don't have the right connection for it so i used the one that was included (pictured). I wasn't expecting great things but by god I was shocked to see that the foam came out the correct consistancy and covered the car quickly. My foam lance could soon find itself in the "For Sale" section!! Then I switched to the spray nossle. The water came shooting out with a very good pressure, 200% better than my old machine, blasting through what little dirt there was there without an issue, I almost didn't need to wash the car, the dirt was pretty much all gone, although I suspect that had something to do with the amount of LSP I have on there anyway!

As with most new washers the machine kicks in when you pull the trigger, saving energy.

The car was quickly rinsed and the whole wash process was over and done with within an hour - a foam, rinse, 2bm wash and rinse, before I wiped down and finished off with a spray of Dodo Juice Red Mist Tropical.

And here it is - sorry for no before of during pics but the finished article was a very shiny car with results achieved in a very short space of time indeed.

If you want one or need a new one I can highly recommend this pressure washer. For me the price and performance are fantastic. Oh, and for those with patios it came with a free patio cleaner head too.

+1 for recommending the C110, great little tool

It's blown the letters/numbers off your front number plate!!! :giggle:

Nice one!

Interesting Review - esp if you think the foam lance/bottle is good enough for serious detailing.

Will - Can you get the whole car foamed with one fill of the foam bottle?!?

Cheers,

Ste.

Ste, I was seriously surprised - it was really good. Maybe I could show you one day?

I filled it 3/4s full and had half left after I finished mine, so I added a little water to the neat foam to bring it back to 3/4 again and did my mums 3 series. Did two coats on hers and I think I have just under half left. Very very happy with that, especially as a free accessory. I remember having a go with the one from my old washer and it was dismal but this was just like using a proper foam lance. The only thing with it is it isn't adjustable in anyway but I couldn't really see the need, it came out exactly how I wanted it, when neat and when dilluted.

Interesting. I've been meaning to buy a pressure washer for ages but was really unsure on what to buy/look for e.t.c. Thanks for the review, sounds great for £55! May well try and sort one of for next month.

Worth a try in my books

Nilfisk is a good brand and I am happy with my model I purchased, although it was a few spec levels up, to be honest I haven't used it much but I think it's built well and a lot quieter...........

I'm getting one of these from my wife for my birthday in a couple of weeks and was wondering what foam I should get to use in it especially now as there doesn't seem to be a need to buy a separate foam lance (I'll only be doing our 2 cars and my motorbike)

What foam did you use so I can pick some ready for my trip to Screwfix

I bought mine from i4detailing (google it) enter the code DWX at the checkout for 5% off. I don't know that much about the different types of foam but it works ok for me. HTH

Indeed - sounds the bees-knees Will. I always dilute my foam mix anyway - but use one full bottle to go round the VRS.

I can do the girlfriends Micra twice with the same amount.

The foam bottle that came with the Aldi pressure washer was poor - So i changed back to my old pukka foam lance.

Yeah - i need to catch you one weekend and see your detailing routine to keep that white car so clean! B)

Cheers,

Ste.

Will - out of interest - i was pricing this unit up this morning and Amazon do it for £55+free delivery. The other thing that pops up is a Silverline 8m extented pressure washer hose which may or may not be suitable for the Nilfisk. The standard 5m hose is just a bit short. For £12...... this looks like a bargain for an 8m hose. I was wondering if you or anyone on here had detail on the fitments being correct or not..... before i take the plunge.

Silverline 8m pressure hose

As with the Powercraft Ste you will need the longer lead if you want to leave your pressure washer in one place and easily walk around the car, I ended up doing the same as I did on the Powercraft unit, I replaced the original hose with a custom made one off eBay, much better quality and even had a matching blue attachement.............

I have one of these and it is a great little tool. Been using it for about 6 months now with no sign of any problems, possibly down to having a metal pump unlike alot of other cheap brands. I haven't used the free patio cleaner attachment but I do agree on the foam attachment being surprisingly handy!

Just purchased this a second ago on a bit of a whim from amazon for £55 delievered, wasn't expecting anything great just something to make cleaning a simpler process. but after reading this think I made a good choice! :giggle:

Ste - to be honest I really don't know as I'm not at home with my washer I can't really get that info. Perhaps you could google Nilfisk and see if you can find any details, specs or user manuals etc. I personally would order with Screwfix as the price is the same, postage is free and the delivery is next day when ordered before 7pm.

Edit - just had a look at your link, the one thing I do know about the hose is that it has some kind of pop in connector to the gun, or whatever you want to call it, not a screw. The 5m hose is a little short but can't say it caused me too much of a problem.

Nilfisk may do an extention hose if the silverline doesn't fit.
